Senior Application Specialist

RAICES is looking to hire a full-time Senior Application Specialist to join our in-house Information Technology team! The Senior Application Specialist is responsible for performing a mix of help desk support, systems documentation, system configuration, training material creation, knowledge-base and FAQ management, and will serve as an authority on how to use various desktop and cloud based software applications. The Senior Application Specialist will report to the Director of Information Technology (IT) and will be located in San Antonio, TX with little to no travel required (<25%).

RAICES is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost immigration legal services and education to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees in Texas. We actively advocate for these individuals and do whatever it takes to assist the immigrant community. With legal services, social programs, bond assistance, and an advocacy team focused on changing the narrative around immigration in this country, RAICES is operating on the national frontlines of the fight for immigration rights.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provides help desk support to co-workers, interns, and small cohorts of volunteers and clients;
  • Safeguards the security and integrity of RAICES data and data systems;
  • Acts as an expert user and trainer on the software systems RAICES uses;
  • Documents workflows, creates how-tos and training materials, and maintains inventories, access-lists, and other documentation critical to our mission;
  • Provides rapid response assistance in the event of IT emergencies;
  • Serves as an administrator in GSuite, Microsoft 365, Jumpcloud, ZenDesk and other systems;
  • Coordinates with vendors of our software systems as needed on training, support, and upgrades;
  • Contributes to or lead other projects as assigned by the Director of IT;
  • Provides occasional supervisory support for the Director of IT; 
  • Keeps accurate records of work, time, knowledge, and incidents; and,
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience;
  • 6+ years experience in Information Technology, Software Development, Business Systems, or related field; and,
  • 1+ year(s) experience in supervising a small team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in project management; and,
  • Expert experience in at least one of the following: GSuite Administration, Microsoft 365 Administration.
