Bilingual Recruiter

RAICES is hiring a Bilingual Recruiter to assist in the recruitment, selection and hiring of staff. This full-time position will report to the Director of Talent Acquisition and Retention and is based in the Central Texas area.

RAICES is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost immigration legal services and education to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees in Texas. We actively advocate for these individuals and do whatever it takes to assist the immigrant community. With legal services, social programs, bond assistance, and an advocacy team focused on changing the narrative around immigration in this country, RAICES is operating on the national frontlines of the fight for immigration rights.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Achieves staffing objectives by recruiting, screening and evaluating job candidates while maintaining established procedures and confidentiality;
  • Writes job descriptions and recruitment plans in concert with the Hiring Manager;
  • Attracts applicants by placing job advertisements and builds applicant sources when necessary to fill positions and attract qualified candidates;
  • Screens applicants adhering closely to the required qualifications and the established objective criteria;
  • Evaluates applicant qualifications by interviewing applicants, analyzing responses, verifying references, compared to job qualifications and the established objective criteria;
  • Rates and carefully documents feedback on each candidate;
  • Arranges interviews with hiring managers and assures adequate feedback after interviews;
  • Vets chosen candidates with thorough reference checks and requests job offers from human resources staff;
  • Maintains close communication with hiring managers to assure their staffing needs are met;
  • Improves organization attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices; monitoring job offers and compensation practices; 
  • Assures all legal and ethical requirements are met during the selection process;
  • Maintains professional communication with candidates about their application status; and
  • Assists Human Resources with any additional tasks.


  • 2-3 years of experience participating in the selection and hiring of staff, preferably for a non-profit;
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish;
  • Experience working in and knowledge of Human Resources preferred ;
  • Experience working in a legal office or legal non-profit preferred;
  • Excellent communication and listening skills;
  • Strong sense of empathy, a natural curiosity and a love of interviewing people from all backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive internal and external relationships;
  • Excellent computer skills: proficiency with the Microsoft and Google suites, familiarity with recruiting software preferred;
  • Highly organized and able to facilitate multiple selection processes in different stages simultaneously; and
  • Affinity for RAICES mission.
