Social Programs Case Manager, San Antonio 

RAICES is looking for a San Antonio Case Manager.  This is a full time position and includes collaboration with the Vice President of Social Programs to create and develop a comprehensive referral and service delivery process, maintaining and managing community provider relationships and ensuring a people-centered approach to service delivery. This position reports to the Vice President of Social Programs and is located in San Antonio.

RAICES is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, founded in 1986 and has grown to be the largest immigration legal services provider in Texas, with offices in Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio. RAICES is a frontline organization that believes in a compassionate, people-centered approach to human rights and believes all have the right to migrate. We defend the rights of immigrants and refugees, empower individuals, families and communities and advocate for justice and liberty. 

The RAICES social programs department launched in January 2019 and seeks to serve migrant, immigrant and refugee individuals, children and families in the U.S. in need of support with removing barriers in their daily lives, while promoting access to services to ensure all basic needs are met. The social programs department has initiated the development of a comprehensive case management program and a national hotline for referral services. Social programs also consist of the refugee resettlement program and a bus station project both based in San Antonio. A key programmatic priority for 2020 in social programs is the establishment of a migrant, temporary shelter in San Antonio. 

Duties and responsibilities: 

  • Manage a diverse caseload;
  • Provision of quality assurance and monthly case file review to ensure client and program goals are met and exceeded and quality assurance;
  • Serve as a liaison to community service providers and RAICES legal and advocacy department;
  • Service provision that removes barriers to basic needs; refers clients to community partner agencies, as needed; and,
  • Assess clients’ immediate needs and determine the best course of action to accessing services, including but not limited to, housing, cash assistance, food assistance, transportation assistance or assistance with child care or school enrollment.


  • Minimum BSW or equivalent; MSW or equivalent preferred; 
  • Must be able to pass a background check;
  • Must have 2 years of case management experience or direct service experience; 
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work with diverse teams and populations;
  • Experience with working in an interdisciplinary setting is a plus;
  • Must be proficient in English and Spanish, written and verbal;
  • Must have experience in working with translators during client interviews;
  • Excellent writing and computer (Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel) and database management skills;
  • Highly organized with ability to implement systems and follow-up processes;
  • Ability to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment;
  • Must be comfortable speaking to immigration officers, if needed; 
  • Must be able to conduct home visits, if needed;
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and public speaking skills;
  • Must be uncompromising on keeping client confidentiality;
  • Experience working with immigrants and refugees is a plus;
  • Must have a demonstrated skill set for setting appropriate client boundaries;
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle;
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs;
