RAICES is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees in Texas and nationwide. RAICES is seeking to expand its reach nationally and grow its brand and advocacy, and we’re seeking a media team to aid in creating content for that expansion.

Our creative team is seeking a video editor to plan, shoot, and edit video content for RAICES that draws attention to immigration issues across the country and helps grow RAICES as an organization. We’re looking for someone who pays attention to immigration issues in the news and has a good sense of the most important events, laws, and actions in the immigration sphere. Our ideal candidate will constantly be on the lookout for content opportunities, both viral videos and in-depth pieces, that respond to current events and help push our advocacy. The video editor would report to communications director. The ideal candidate has 2-4  years experience in a similar role.

As video editor, you’ll be responsible for the following:

  • Partnering with various teams in RAICES to create videos for campaigns, from marketing to outreach. You’ll work on storyboards, scripts, graphics, images and audio to prepare videos that will be used for all our social and digital channels.
  • Keeping an eye on the news and coming up with original video ideas in response, working with other teams in RAICES to draft and produce these.
  • Coordinating, scheduling, and leading video shoots (including managing transportation, gear, people, props, and wardrobe) with little direction from others.
  • Producing videos from start to finish, independently and in coordination with other teams.
  • Taking and processing still photography.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or similar
  • Strong photography and videography skills
  • Strong sense of creativity
  • Strong team player
  • Project management, organizational, prioritization, and follow-up skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with multiple deadlines
  • Ability to source and pitch video and story ideas
  • Ability to identify content that could go viral

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (e.g. photography, media production, film, etc.) preferred
  • Two to four years of experience in a similar role
